Vaccines for Kittens & Cats

Contact our team to create a vaccination plan for your pet.

Our veterinary team will develop a vaccination plan based on your pet's specific needs. Some vaccines are essential (core), whereas others are only recommended if your pet meets certain criteria, like the risk of exposure (non-core). If you have questions about your pet's vaccination plan, please contact us at (416) 231-9293.

Why does my pet need to be vaccinated?

Many of the diseases we vaccinate pets against can be fatal. Preventing them is far easier and less expensive than treatment. Our vaccination recommendations are based on your individual pet's lifestyle and community risk. We'll determine which vaccinations are best for your pet based on individual factors, such as lifestyle and health status. Some vaccinations we recommend for kittens/cats include:

  • Rabies
  • Panleukopenia (feline distemper)
  • Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) - based on risk

Are vaccinations effective for pets?

Vaccinations offer a high degree of protection against common diseases. Our vets use their expertise to determine which vaccines are required on an individual pet basis. This decision is based on a balance among disease incidence and severity, vaccine efficacy and safety, as well as the health, welfare, and lifestyle of the individual pet. Vaccines need to be assessed on a yearly basis. A lapse in certain vaccinations can pose a safety risk not only to your pet and other pets but also to your family and anyone who may handle your pet. Based on this, please be advised that your pet must be vaccinated upon admission to the hospital for boarding and grooming if an immunization has lapsed.
